In 2004, former baseball pitcher, Dennis Eckersley was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame, making it his first year of eligibility. He made 191 starts and threw 1,371 2/3 innings during his time with the Red Sox. His record includes 88-71 and 771 strikeouts with Boston which earned him a spot in the team’s Hall of Fame.

How did Dennis Eckersley win MVP?
In 1992, Dennis Eckersley won the Major League Baseball Most Valuable Player Award. That season was considered the most dominant season he has ever had. He finished with a 7-1 record, a 1.91 ERA, a league-leading 51 saves, and 93 strikeouts with only 11 bases on balls – of which six were intentional – in 80 innings pitched. He was also awarded AL Cy Young Player as well.
