In 1974, Ginny and I met at an M.I.T. folk dancing party. Ginny has been my wife for 37 years.

This occurred while I was visiting the National Bureau of Economic Research, Harvard University, and M.I.T. while I was back in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

She was a kindred spirit to me, and I am confident that my achievements are a result of our happy marriage, her intellectual company, and her willingness to give me a lot of time to devote to my research while she took care of the household duties.

We resided in Newark, Delaware, in the early years of our marriage while she pursued a Ph.D. in clinical psychology at the University of Delaware, and I commuted to work at the University of Pennsylvania.

He stated in his biography.
