Robert J. Shiller is a Yale University professor of economics.

He is an economics Nobel laureate best recognized for his work on financial markets, behavioral economics, and real estate.

Shiller is the co-founder of the Case-Shiller index, a commonly used indicator of home values in the United States, and the author of several economics books, notably “Irrational Exuberance,” which examines the role of psychology in financial markets.

He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Economics in 2013 for his contributions to behavioral economics.

Shiller also contributes regularly to the New York Times and other media sites, where he writes about economic topics and trends.

Robert Shiller is married to Virginia Marie and the couple has two sons.

With a focus on information economics and industrial organization, our eldest son Benjamin Shiller is currently an assistant professor of economics at Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts.

Derek Shiller, our younger son, is a lecturer at the University of Nebraska in Omaha and is enrolled in Princeton University’s Ph.D. program in philosophy.

In several significant ways, his interests in epistemology, meta-philosophy, and Bayesian inference are similar to my own.

He stated in his biography.
