In May 2022, a man disguised as an elderly woman in a wheelchair threw a piece of cake at the Mona Lisa her high-tech glass encasement at the Louvre Museum in Paris.

The culprit reportedly attacked the painting in order to apparently raise awareness of the environment. However, Museum officials say the painting was not damaged.
