Gillian Flynn grew up in the Coleman Highlands neighbourhood of midtown Kansas City. Gillian Schieber Flynn was born on February 24, 1971, in Kansas City, Missouri, United States of America.

Gillian Flynn received her high school education at Bishop Miege High School and graduated in 1989. She then attended the University of Kansas, where she earned undergraduate degrees in English and journalism.

Gillian Flynn later attended Northwestern University and obtained a master’s degree from its Medill School of Journalism in 1997.

Gillian Flynn’s books have been translated into 40 languages and have sold over 15 million copies worldwide, with Gone Girl alone selling more than 15 million copies according to The Washington Post in 2016.
