Alexander Woods was an American rapper best known by the stage name Big Scarr.

Big Scarr was born on April 7, 2000 and grew up in the Magnolia community of South Memphis together with eight siblings.

He initially lived with his grandmother until her passing when he was aged 13.

At age 16, he was involved in a car accident where he was thrown through the windshield of his friend’s car.

He coined the name “Scarr” as a result of the scars he had from the accident.

Big Scarr’s passion for rap music was ignited by his friend and fellow artist Baby K. It’s on record that Big Scarr had no passion for rap music prior to his encounter with Baby K.

Big Scarr released his track “Make a Play” in 2019 and it received 50,000 views on video sharing platform YouTube.

The following year, Big Scarr signed to American rapper Gucci Mane’s record label 1017 Records under Atlantic Records.

The next year (thus, 2021), he rose to prominence with the release of his track “SoIcyBoyz” which featured his cousin Pooh Shiesty and American rapper Foogiano.

The second and third installments include a feature from producer Tay Keith, whilst the third installment features Gucci Mane.

Big Scarr’s debut mixtape, Big Grim Reaper, released on April 16, 2021, peaked at number 25 on the Billboard 200.

Sadly, the young and promising musician died on Thuursday, Dec. 22, 2022 from drug overdose.

Details of his funeral will be made public by his family in due time.
