Where did Ledisi go to college?

Ledisi studied opera and piano at the University of California Berkeley for five years. She started performing publicly at age eight with the New Orleans Symphony Orchestra.

Ledisi was raised in Oakland, California. In 2000, Ledisi released her first album, Soulsinger, on her own record label. After the release of Soulsinger, Ledisi began performing outside of the Bay Area.

In 2005, Ledisi signed a record deal with Verve Forecast and released her third album, Lost & Found, in 2007. The album earned her two Grammy Award nominations, including one for Best New Artist.

In 2008, Ledisi released a Christmas album called It’s Christmas. In 2020, she released her ninth studio album, The Wild Card, and a live album recorded at The Troubadour.

Ledisi is also set to star in her first Hallmark original movie, All Saints Christmas, in 2022. Her fourth album, Turn Me Loose, received two Grammy Award nominations.

In 2013, Ledisi was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best R&B Performance for her collaboration with Robert Glasper on the album cut “Gonna Be Alright.”
