Denny Doyle Wife: Meet Martha Carol Doyle

Martha Carol Doyle was the wife of Denny Doyle, an American professional baseball second baseman who played for the Philadelphia Phillies, California Angels, and Boston Red Sox in Major League Baseball (MLB).

Denny and his wife, Martha Carol Doyle, were longtime residents of Winter Haven, Florida. Denny Doyle died on December 20, 2022, according to multiple reports. He was 78 years old at the time. No cause of death has been given.

Denny Doyle made his major league debut with the Phillies in 1970. Before the 1974 season, he was traded to the Angels, and on June 14, 1975, he was traded to the Red Sox.

Doyle is best known for his role in Game Six of the World Series against the Cincinnati Reds, which featured Carlton Fisk’s dramatic twelfth-inning home run, which has become one of baseball’s most iconic highlights.

Doyle returned to Boston for the 1976 and 1977 seasons, appearing in 343 Red Sox games while batting .261 total bases, six home runs, and 111 RBIs.

Doyle appeared in 944 MLB games between 1970 and 1977, finishing with a.250 average, 16 home runs, and 237 RBIs.  As a second baseman, he appeared in 912 games and had a.977 fielding percentage.  He also appeared as a third baseman seven times and as a shortstop four times.
