P-22 was captured in a Los Angeles neighbourhood backyard five days before he has been euthanized by state wildlife officials on Saturday, 17th December 2022.

On Monday, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife found P-22 in a Los Feliz backyard and sedated the lion. P-22, the mountain lion was euthanized due to injuries and poor health.

P-22 is named after the freeway that he crossed to get to the park. He is a mountain lion that lived in Griffith Park in Los Angeles, California.
P-22 has gained fame due to his ability to thrive in an urban environment, and he has become a symbol of the challenges faced by urban wildlife.
P-22 is believed to have been born in the Santa Monica Mountains, which are located west of Los Angeles. Despite being isolated in the park, P-22 has been successful in breeding, and his offspring have helped to increase the mountain lion population in the Santa Monica Mountains.
