Siniša Mihajlovi died on December 16, 2022, in a Rome clinic, as a result of leukemia complications. He was 53

Siniša Mihajlovi publicly announced on 13 July 2019 that he had been diagnosed with an acute form of leukaemia, but he continued to manage Bologna. After three cycles of chemotherapy, he received a bone marrow transplant.

Siniša Mihajlovi was a defender or midfielder during his football career.  He won the European Cup with Red Star Belgrade in 1991 and spent the majority of his career in the Italian Serie A.

Many consider him to be one of the best free kick takers of all time and he holds the Serie A record for most goals from free kicks with 28 goals.

Mihajlovi retired from playing in 2006 to become Inter’s assistant manager. From 2008 to 2022, he was the manager of six Serie A clubs, beginning and ending with Bologna and including Fiorentina, Torino, and A.C. Milan.
