Dean Cain Parents: Meet Christopher Cain, Sharon Thomas, Roger Tanaka

Dean Cain is an American actor who was born on July 31, 1966, in Mount Clemens, Michigan, to US serviceman Roger Tanaka and actress Sharon Thomas.

Cain is of Japanese ancestry through his biological father, with the rest of his ancestors being Welsh, Irish, and French Canadian.

Cain stated about his biological father, whom he never met: “He’s not the type of man I aspire to be. He was an unfaithful husband and a poor father.”

Dean’s mother moved him and his older brother Roger to Los Angeles shortly after his birth in order to pursue an acting career.

Sharon later married film director Christopher Cain, who adopted Dean and Roger, in 1969. Krisinda, the couple’s daughter, was born in Malibu, California.
