At the age of seven, Gvardiol began playing football after his father, a former amateur player in Novigrad, introduced him to Trenjevka.

He was seen by Lokomotiva and Zagreb while there, but his family later accepted an offer from Dinamo Zagreb after he received it.

Guardiola was a member of Zlatko Dali’s 26-man roster for the 2022 FIFA World Cup on November 9, 2022.

Why does Josko Gvardiol wear a mask?

Due to an injury he had while competing for Leipzig before the World Cup began, Gvardiol has been forced to wear the mask.

During their 3-1 victory over SC Freiburg, he clashed with defensive teammate Willi Orban and, unfortunately for him, injured his nose as a result.

Following discussions between the Croatian medical staff and Leipzig, it was decided that Gvardiol would need to wear a protective mask in order to participate.
