Gordie Howe was a Canadian professional ice hockey player who plied his trade actively in the National Hockey League and the World Hockey Association. Gordie Howe played for the Detroit Red Wings, Houston Aeros, and the Hartford Whalers.

Gordie Howe also played internationally for the Canadian national ice hockey team and bagged a number of accolades. Gordie Howe won the Art Ross Trophy on six occasions and also won the Hart Memorial Trophy on six occasions.

Gordie Howe was born in Floral, Saskatchewan, on March 31, 1928, and died in Sylvania, Ohio, on June 10, 2016, at the age of 88 years as a result of mild stroke and dementia.
After the death of Gordie Howe, his casket was placed at Joe Louis Arena for public visitation on June 14, 2016.
