The American professional pool player Jeanette Lee spent years dominating pool tables despite degenerative, debilitating pain and became a top-ranked women’s billiards champion.
Lee commenced playing pool in 1989 but turned pro in 1991. She earned the nickname Black Widow because she would “eat people alive” on the table.
She could nab sponsorships that had nothing to do with billiards, chalk or cues — including a 7-year deal with Bass Pro Shops.
But, Lee had to stride into semi-retirement in recent years due to scoliosis, which she was diagnosed with at the age of 13.

In the span of her playing career, she won over 30 national and international titles.
Lee owns an American Poolplayers Association franchise in Tampa.
Jeanette Lee was inducted into the Billiard Congress of America Hall of Fame in 2013.
In February 2021, Lee announced that she had been diagnosed with stage IV terminal ovarian cancer. However, in May 2022, it was reported that her chemo treatments were successful.
