The first officer on the scene spoke to a child witness who reported seeing April climbing a grey van. On March 27, 2013, police revealed that they would call off the search at the end of April after being unable to locate her body, and on April 22, police confirmed that the search had officially ended.
This was the largest missing person search in UK police history.
