Hal Clay Mumme is a former American football coach and former player.

His most recent appointment was as an offensive advisor for the Dallas Renegades of the XFL.
Where did Hal Mumme coach? Mumme has also served as the head football coach at:

- The University of Kentucky,
- Southeastern Louisiana University,

- Belhaven University.

Mumme is best known as one of the pioneers of the air raid offense system.

The system is designed out of a shotgun formation with four wide receivers and one running back.
The formations are a variation of the run and shoot offense with two outside receivers and two inside slot receivers.
The offense also uses trips formations featuring three wide receivers on one side of the field and a lone single receiver on the other side.
A native of San Antonio, Texas, Mumme played football as a receiver for Thomas Jefferson High School in Dallas, Texas.
After graduation, he played at New Mexico Military Institute and at Tarleton State University.
Mumme began his coaching career as the offensive coordinator at Foy H. Moody High School in Corpus Christi, Texas from 1976 through 1978.
