Faf du Plessis is a South African professional cricketer and former captain of the South African national cricket team.

In domestic cricket, Faf du Plessis played for the Northerns and Titans.
Plessis started playing county cricket in 2008 for Lancashire. But, he had to end his contract in 2010 due to a change in the rules which had made him ineligible.
Between 2011 and 2015, he played for Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League. He then moved to Rising Pune Supergiant in 2016. Plessis, however, had a second stint with CSK from 2018 to 2021.
In February 2021, Faf du Plessis announced his retirement from Test cricket to focus on the 2021 and 2022 ICC Men’s T20 World Cups.

In the 2022 Indian Premier League auction, du Plessis was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore and subsequently named as the team’s captain on March 12, 2022.

In 2021, Du Plessis revealed that he suffered some memory loss after sustaining a concussion during a Pakistan Super League (PSL) T20 match in Abu Dhabi but made a quick recovery.
