Norman Pattiz was an American broadcasting entrepreneur who founded Westwood One radio network. Norman Pattiz had no children of his own.

In 1976, Pattiz founded Westwood One, a radio syndication company. It grew to become America’s largest radio network and one of the world’s most powerful media corporations.

Pattiz joined the University of California Board of Regents in 2001 and served as chair of the Board of Regents Oversight Committee of the Department of Energy Laboratories.

He served on the Council of Foreign Relations and the Pacific Council on International Policy as president of the Broadcast Education Association.

Pattiz was inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame in 2009. Pattiz also received the Library of American Broadcasting’s Giants of Broadcasting Award.

Pattiz founded Launchpad in October 2012, which later became PodcastOne in February 2013. In 2017, Pattiz collaborated with the Los Angeles Lakers and Jay Mohr to create the “America’s Lakers Podcast With Jay Mohr.”

Norman Pattiz passed away on December 4, 2022. He was 79. His death was reported by All Access, who stated that he died on Sunday but did not specify the cause of death.
