Patrick Tambay, a former Formula One driver, died on 4 December 2022 after suffering from Parkinson’s disease for several years.

On Sunday, 4 December 2022, Ferrari’s official Instagram page paid tribute to the French driver. It read: ‘We are all truly saddened by the news of the passing of Patrick Tambay.”
“He was one of the true stars of the 80s winning two races with the Scuderia and contributing to winning the Manufacturers’ titles in 1982 and 1983.”
Patrick Tambay raced in Formula One twice, first from 1977 to 1979 and then again from 1981 to 1986. In the second of those periods, he won two races for Ferrari: the 1982 German Grand Prix and the San Marino GP the following year.

His best finish in the driver’s championship came in 1983, when he finished fourth behind Nelson Piquet, Alain Prost, and Rene Arnoux.
Tambay took over at Ferrari after Gilles Villeneuve died in an accident in 1982. Tambay’s racing helped Ferrari win the Constructor’s title in both 1982 and 1983.
Tambay also raced for McLaren, Renault, and Team Haas in F1, as well as four times in the 24-hour Le Mans race, finishing on his fourth attempt in 1989.
