Italian cyclist who won the Amstel Gold Race, La Fleche Wallonne and Liege-Bastogne-Liege in a stellar 2004 season and the Paris-Nice race in 2008, Davide Rebellin has died. He was 51 years old.

He died after being hit by a driver in a truck while training near Vicenza. He was killed instantly in the incident, which occurred at Montebello Vicentino shortly before midday.

Reports suggest that the vehicle did not stop at the scene and the police were looking for it and the driver.
Davide Rebellin was considered one of the finest classics specialists of the generation with more than fifty top ten finished in UCI Road World Cup and UCI Pro Tour classics. He won stage races such as Paris-Nice and Tirreno-Adriatico, and a stage in the Giro d’Italia.
