Also, after his retirement from football, he was inducted into the English Football Hall of Fame. As a keen supporter of Leicester City, he had a consortium that invested in his old club, saving it from bankruptcy, and was appointed honorary vice president.
In 2021, Lineker made a number of cameo appearances playing himself in the American comedy TV series, Ted Lasso.
