Milton Street Cause Of Death

Thomas Milton Street Sr, an American entrepreneur, a former Pennsylvania state senator from Philadelphia, and the brother of former Philadelphia mayor John F. Street has died. Milton Street was born on April 25, 1941 and died on November 28, 2022. He was 81 years.

Milton Street’s demise was confirmed by his nephew Sen. Sharif Street. A cause of death was not stated.

Sen. Sharif Street eulogized his uncle, writing:

“He fought to break down barriers and visualized ways government could work for everyday folks by enacting change through policy regardless of political affiliation.”

Despite his outstanding contribution to the fight against racism and American politics, he had his fair share of controversy when he was sentenced to 30 months in prison in 2008 for dodging taxes.

That didn’t stop him from running for mayor of Philadelphia several times this century, including in 2011 and 2015.

Milton Street was elected to the 181st District of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Democrat in 1978, and to the Pennsylvania State Senate as a Democrat in 1980.

He was an unsuccessful candidate for Congress against incumbent Representative Bill Gray in 1982, and an unsuccessful Democratic candidate for re-election as State Senator in 1984.
