Jerry Garcia Ex-Wives: Who Were Jerry Garcia Married to?

Garcia has been married four times. He met his first wife, Sara Ruppenthal, in 1963. She was working at the coffee house in the back of Kepler’s Books, where Garcia, Hunter and Nelson regularly perform. They married on April 23, 1963.

He then married Carolyn Adams who he met in late 1966 and lived together until 1975. Adams gave birth to Garcia’s second and third daughters, Annabelle Walker Garcia and Theresa Adams Garcia.

Garcia also married Manasha Matheson from 1990 to 1995.

Jerry Garcia last was married to Deborah Koons. They met amid a March 1973 Grateful Dead engagement at Long Island’s Nassau Coliseum.

Deborah Koons was an aspiring filmmaker from a wealthy Cincinnati, Ohio-based family who would much later Garcia and become his widow.
