On October 10, 2020, during his junior season at North Carolina, was named the ACC Running Back of the week after rushing for 214 yards and two touchdowns against Virginia Tech.
Michael Carter was named Pro Football Focus’s first-team All-American for the running back position in 2020. Michael Carter was also named a finalist for the 2020 Paul Hornung Award.
