Jordin Sparks is an American singer and actress. Jordin Sparks was born in Phoenix, Arizona, to Jodi Wiedmann Sparks and Phillippi Sparks, a former professional American football player.

Her father is African-American, and her mother is of German, English, Scottish, and Norwegian ancestry.

Her father was drafted by the New York Giants as the 13th pick in the second round of the 1992 NFL Draft. He played left cornerback opposite Jason Sehorn for six years and formed a talented defensive backfield tandem.

Sparks attended Northwest Community Christian School in Phoenix through the eighth grade after moving from New Jersey.

Sparks attended Sandra Day O’Connor High School until 2006, when her grandmother, Pam Wiedmann, homeschooled her so she could focus on her singing.

Jordin Sparks is best known for winning the sixth season of “American Idol” when she was 17 years old

Sparks has received numerous awards throughout her career, including an NAACP Image Award, a BET Award, an American Music Award, a People’s Choice Award, and two Teen Choice Awards.
