Who Is Frank Beamer?

Franklin Beamer is a former college football coach, known to have coached the team at Virginia Tech from 1987 to 2015.

Born in 1946, Beamer played football as far back as 1966 as cornerback for Virginia Tech.

He began his coaching career in 1972, coaching teams  Maryland, The Citadel, Murray State (DC), and Virginia Tech.

Beamer served as head coach for Virginia Tech until November 1, 2015, becoming one of the longest serving coaches in the history of the NCAA.

Beamer was paid $2 million per year while he served as coach at Virginia Tech.

Upon retirement, Beamer took up the appointment as special assistant to the athletic director of Virginia Tech, focusing on athletic development and advancement.

In 2018, he became an inductee in the College Football Hall of Fame.

Beamer also serves as member of the College Football Playoff Committee.
