Robert Clary, the French actor, singer, and Holocaust survivor best known for his role as Corporal LeBeau on the World War II sitcom Hogan’s Heroes died at his Los Angeles home on November 16, 2022, at the age of 96

Clary is best known for his portrayal of Corporal Louis LeBeau on the World War II sitcom “Hogan’s Heroes.” Clary was the last surviving member of the series’ original principal cast before his death.

While still learning English, he appeared on “The Ed Wynn Show” in 1949 and performed a French-language comedy skit.

Clary appeared in films such as Ten Tall Men (1951) and Thief of Damascus (1952), before meeting Cantor, who took him to New York to perform at the upscale La Vie en Rose club. Clary was discovered by producer Leonard Sillman, who cast him in the Broadway musical revue New Faces of 1952.

Clary also appeared on Days of Our Lives, The Young and the Restless (where his character, Pierre Rolland, owned a restaurant/club in Genoa City before being murdered), and The Bold and the Beautiful.
