In April 2018, Ashley Judd filed a lawsuit against Weinstein. Weinstein allegedly lured her to his hotel room, asked her to watch him shower, and attempted to give her a massage.
Judd claims she only escaped after agreeing to a deal in which she agreed to let him touch her if she won an Academy Award.
She also sued for defamation and retaliation, claiming that Weinstein effectively blacklisted her in the film industry after she turned down his advances.
Later, Judd claims she was in serious talks for a major role in Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings, but the opportunity was snuffed out after Weinstein or someone at Miramax told the director she was a “nightmare” to work with.

The New York Times and The New Yorker reported in October 2017 that more than a dozen women had accused Weinstein of sexually harassing, assaulting, or raping them.
Harvey Weinstein was arrested and charged with rape in New York in May 2018 and was found guilty of two of five felonies in February 2020.
Harvey Weinstein was sentenced to 23 years in prison and began serving his sentence at Wende Correctional Facility
