Sue Baker Obituary

Motoring journalist Sue Baker, passed away on November 14, 2022, at age 67.

Baker who died in her home, surrounded by family members, had battled with motor neurone disease for a long time.

She is survived by two children, a daughter-in-law and two grandchildren.

Baker’s passing was announced on her Twitter via a statement that described her as a “talented and prolific writer, a charismatic TV presenter, and a passionate animal lover”.

She was a well respected figure whose career in automotive journalism was an envy of all.

“Thank you to everyone who has supported her over the last few years as she battled with MND”, the statement read.

Sue was one of the first few women who began journalism in the automotive industry, having worked at Top Gear as a presenter from 1980 to 1991.

As a motoring journalist, she appeared in 22 series of the show, and later went on to work with The Observer as a motoring editor for another 13 years.

Funeral arrangements for the late TV icon will be communicated to the public in due time.
