He won the Paralympics and the Olympic Games in 2016, as well as the World Championship in 2017; taking home two gold medals and two silver medals.

Who Is Robert Griswold?

Robert Griswold is a professional world acclaimed swimmer, who holds numerous American and world records in freestyle, backstroke, and butterfly strokes.

Born on November 27, 1996, in North Carolina, with cerebral palsy, Griswold did not allow his condition to keep him down.

At just 6 years old, he started swimming in the Ocean County YMCA. He later competed for his high school swimming team and was named team captain and MVP.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from Indiana State University after graduating from Freehold Township High School.

Griswold competed in the Paralympics and the Olympic Games in 2016 before going on to win the World Championship in 2017. He became the most decorated American male with two gold medals and two silver medals.

In 2022, Griswold represented the United States at the 2022 World Para Swimming Championships, and won his third consecutive title in the 100m backstroke S8.

He also won world titles in the 100m butterfly and 200m individual medley, as well as other silver and bronze medals.

Outside of sports, he completed the requirements for the Eagle Scout rank and set up a Paralympic Swimming Clinic to educate the public about disabilities.
