Chuck Carr Obituary

Chuck Carr was a former Mets outfielder who played for the team in 1990 and 1991.  Carr led the National League in stolen bases in 1993, with 58. He was instrumental in the Astros winning the National League Central Division in 1997.

He played in 507 games, had 1,713 at-bats, 254 runs, 435 hits, 81 doubles, seven triples, 13 home runs, 123 RBI, 144 stolen bases, 149 walks, and a.254 batting average,316 on-base percentage,332 slugging percentage, 569 total bases, 30 sacrifice hits, 10 sacrifice flies, and four intentional walks in an eight-season career.

He provided one of the most memorable sports quotes of the decade in 1997 when he ignored a take sign to swing on a 2-0 pitch and made an out. “That ain’t Chuckie’s game,” Carr said after the game. Chuckie scores 2-0.”

Carr briefly played for the Long Island Ducks and manager Bud Harrelson, who had been Carr’s manager with the Mets.

Chuck Car passed away on November 13, 2022, at the age of 55. According to family social media posts, Carr was battling health issues.
