Leo Gallagher was an American comedian known for using a sledgehammer to smash watermelons on stage.
Born on July 24, 1946, in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, Gallagher rose to fame in the 80s.

Gallagher who has Irish-Croatian roots, began with his special stand-up comedy show “An Uncensored Evening,” which was aired on cable TV at the time.

He had also appeared on The Mike Douglas Show, The Merv Griffin Show and Playboy Clubs.
Gallagher put smiles on the faces of many of his fans during his career that spanned over three decades.
He performed between 100-200 shows a year, smashing countless number of melons with his sledgehammer he called the “Sledge-O-Matic”.
The second-most TV comedy specials of all time are considered to be Gallagher’s 13 specials.
Gallagher passed away in hospices care, on November 11, 2022, after suffering from a massive organ failure.
He was aged 76.
