Why did The Office get Cancelled?

The Office is an American mockumentary sitcom television series that follows the daily lives of office employees at the fictional Dunder Mifflin Paper Company’s Scranton, Pennsylvania, branch.

It ran on NBC for nine seasons, from March 24, 2005, until May 16, 2013.

Based on Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant’s 2001-2003 BBC series of the same name, it was adapted for American television by Greg Daniels, a veteran writer for Saturday Night Live, King of the Hill, and The Simpsons.

Daniels’ Deedle-Dee Productions and Reveille Productions (later Shine America) co-produced it with Universal Television.

Why did The Office get Cancelled?

While the viewership and reception were factors in The Office’s season 9 ending, technically, the series wasn’t canceled.

Instead, it concluded because of a creative decision stemming from Daniels and his cast.

Krasinski wanted to end the show on the highest note possible before the network made the decision for them, as the viewership and popularity of the show were already greatly declining.
