Samuel Bankman-Fried is a businessman and investor. He is the son of Barbara Fried and Joseph Bankman, both professors at Stanford Law School.

Sam Bankman-Fried’s father Joseph Bankman received his BA from the University of California, Berkeley in 1977 and his JD from Yale Law School in 1980.
In 2004, he and his colleagues developed a proposal for a California programme called ReadyReturn, in which citizens’ tax returns were pre-filled and only required users to make corrections.
Sam Bankman-Fried’s mother Barbara Fried joined the Harvard Law School faculty in 1987 after working for the law firm Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison from 1984 to 1987.

She received a B.A. degree magna cum laude from Harvard College in 1977 and an M.A. in Literature in 1980, as well as a J.D. degree magna cum laude from Harvard Law School in 1983.
Barbara Fried is a co-founder of the political fundraising organisation Mind the Gap, as well as the Center for Voter Information and other get-out-the-vote (GOTV) organisations.
Sam Bankman-Fried is the founder and CEO of FTX, the world’s second-largest crypto exchange.
