Maggie Hassan Husband: Who Is Thomas Hassan?

Maggie Hassan’s husband Thomas Edward Hassan is an American educator who served as the first gentleman of New Hampshire.

Maggie Hassan’s husband, Thomas, was the principal of Phillips Exeter Academy from 2008 to 2015 and is the president of School Year Abroad.

Thomas Hassan earned a bachelor of arts degree at Brown University, Providence, Rhode Island, and earned masters and doctoral degrees in Education at Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Thomas Hassan has served as the President of School Year Abroad since June 2016. He has previously worked at Phillips Exeter Academy.

At the Phillips Exeter Academy, Thomas Hassan began as the Director of College Counseling in 1989. There he worked as the Dean of Admissions and was the 14th principal from 2009 until his retirement from the school in 2015.

The New York Observer named Hassan as one of 24 “Elite Private School Power Players” in 2011. He and Maggie Hassan are parents of two adult children Ben and Meg Hassan.
