Scottish vocalist William Daniel McCafferty, popularly known as Dan McCafferty, famed as the lead singer for the Scottish hard rock band Nazareth from its founding in 1968 to his retirement from touring with the band in 2013 has died.

McCafferty was born on 14 October 1946 and passed away on 8 November 2022 at age 76.
What was Dan McCafferty’s cause of death? According to bassist Pete Agnew, McCafferty suffered from Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

McCafferty announced his retirement from live shows in 2013.
His premature retirement was partly due to the COPD getting worse as well as a burst stomach ulcer.

According to Mayo Clinic, COPD is a chronic inflammatory lung disease which causes obstructed airflow from the lungs.
