Leslie Phillips Cause Of Death

Actor Leslie Phillips, who was famous for his role in the Carry On films, has died aged 98 after a long illness. The exact illness was not stated.

To the younger folks, Phillips was most recognized as the voice of the Sorting Hat in Harry Potter films.

Phillips achieved stardom in the 1950s, playing smooth, upper-class comic roles utilising his “Ding Dong” and “He-llo” catchphrases.

He appeared in the Carry On and Doctor in the House film series as well as the long-running BBC radio comedy series The Navy Lark.

In his later career, Phillips took on dramatic parts including a BAFTA-nominated role alongside Peter O’Toole in Venus (2006).

Phillips attended Italia Conti Stage School before serving as a lieutenant in the Durham Light Infantry during World War Two – between 1942 and 1945, when he was invalided out.

Phillips was made an OBE in the 1998 Birthday Honours list and was promoted to CBE in the 2008 New Year Honours.
