Bubba Cascio Cause of Death

Charles “Bubba” Cascio, a Quarter Horse racing legend who later transitioned to Thoroughbred training, died Wednesday, November 2, 2022, morning at his Tolar, Texas, home, according to his wife, Judy Cascio. Bubba Cascio was 90 years old.

Cascio had been suffering from congestive heart failure and had been in and out of hospitals and rehabilitation facilities since breaking some of his ribs on June 4, according to Judy Cascio.

He had been in hospice care recently, she said, and died peacefully, surrounded by family and his beloved Australian shepherds.

Judy Cascio said of her husband of 34 years, “lots of memories.” “He’s my best friend, and I’m going to miss him.”

Cascio is a Quarter Horse Association Hall of Fame member best known for training Dash for Cash, the 1976 and 1977 Quarter Horse world champion.

He also trained Dashingly, the 1983 world champion, and the All-American Futurity winners Three Oh’s and Rocket Wrangler.

Cascio would later saddle Gold Storm in the Breeders’ Cup Sprint at his home track of Lone Star Park in 2004. He also trained Lights On Broadway, a former Texas Thoroughbred Association horse of the year.
