Former boxer, Goran Gogić has been charged by the United States government for being involved in trafficking 22 tons of cocaine which is estimated to be worth $1 billion. This marks the largest cocaine burst in the history of the US, therefore, could end the sportsman a huge prison sentence.

Goran Gogić was arrested on Sunday [October 30, 2022] when he tried to board a flight to Zurich from Miami Airport. This comes after he was previously indicted by a grand jury in New York. Sources indicate that he oversaw logistics and worked with crew members on board the ship of transporting the drugs.

He has been charged with three counts of violating the federal Maritime Drug Law Enforcement Act, in addition to a single count of conspiracy. These counts carry a minimum of 10 years sentence each. The huge drug shipment was seized by federal law officers from the MSC Gayane when it was docked in Philadelphia over three years ago.

According to the police, it was a complex operation in which cocaine was transported to Europe from Colombia using American ports.
