Julie Powell was a food blogger best known for her cooking memoir, Julie & Julia, which inspired a film starring Meryl Streep. She was born Julie Foster on April 20, 1973 and died on October 26, 2022 at the age of 49.

At the time she died, she was still married to Eric Powell. Julie and Eric, an editor for the magazine Archaeology got married in 1998.
Julie’s sudden demise was confirmed by her husband, who said the cause was cardiac arrest.
Julie released “Julie & Julia: 365 Days, 524 Recipes, 1 Tiny Apartment Kitchen” in 2005. The book became a hit and was later made into a movie, “Julie & Julia.”

Julie was portrayed by Amy Adams in the movie and Meryl Streep starred as Julia Child.
She released a second book, “Cleaving: A Story of Marriage, Meat and Obsession.”
The book detailed her experiences learning to butcher at Fleisher’s butcher shop in Kingston, New York, and the effects of affairs by both her and her husband on their marriage.
It was published on November 30, 2009 and received several negative reviews mainly due to her openness about the affairs she had.
