Julie Powell was a food blogger best known for her cooking memoir, Julie & Julia, which inspired a film starring Meryl Streep. She was born Julie Foster on April 20, 1973 and died on October 26, 2022 at the age of 49.

Julie’s sudden demise was confirmed by her husband, Eric Powell, who revealed that the cause was cardiac arrest.
Powell’s Julie & Julia was turned into a 2009 film directed by Nora Ephron, with Meryl Streep playing Julia Child and Amy Adams in the role of Powell herself.

Her second book, Cleaving: a Story of Marriage, Meat, and Obsession, was published in 2009.
- The book detailed the experiences she had while learning to butcher at Fleisher’s butcher shop in Kingston, New York, and the effects of affairs by both her and her husband on their marriage.

Earlier in the year [2022], Powell began writing a series of commentary pieces for Salon about The Julia Child Challenge, a Food Network reality television show.
