Lula da Silva Wife: Who Is Rosângela da Silva?

Rosângela da Silva is the wife of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva best known as Lula, a Brazilian politician, trade unionist and the president-elect of Brazil.

Rosangela’s husband will become the 39th president of Brazil in 2023, having previously served as the 35th president from 2003 to 2010.

Rosangela is Lula’s third wife. She was born on 27 August 1966 and is commonly known by her nickname Janja.

She is a Brazilian sociologist and the incoming first lady of Brazil as the wife of president-elect Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

She joined the Workers’ Party in 1983 and seven years later, she enrolled the studies of Social Science at the Federal University of Paraná and specialized in History in the same institution.

On Jan 1. 2005, she was hired by Itaipu Binacional. At the time she was hired, there were no civil service examinations and she was hired through curriculum analysis and interview.

At the hydroelectric power plant, she was assistant to the Director-General and coordinator of programs backed to sustainable development.

Between 2012 and 2016, Rosângela was communications and institutional affairs advisor at Eletrobras, in Rio de Janeiro.

She returned to Itaipu in 2016 but officially left the company on 1 January 2020.

Janja and Lula began dating in 2018. She also frequently visited him when he was arrested at the Federal Police headquarters in Curitiba.

  • When Lula was released on 8 November 2019, they announced their engagement.
  • They officially married on 18 May 2022 in São Paulo by Catholic Bishop Angélico Sândalo Bernardino.
