Jonathan was drafted by the Blackhawks as third overall pick in the 2006 NHL Draft.

Jonathan has won the Stanley Cup on three occasions, in 2010, 2013 and 2015.
Jonathan has also won gold medals, while playing for Canada at the 2005 World U-17 Hockey Challenge, 2006 and 2007 World Junior Championships, 2007 World Championships, the 2010 Winter Olympics and the 2014 Winter Olympics.
So far, he is regarded as one of the Greatest players in the NHL history.
For winning the Stanley Cup, the Province of Manitoba had named a northern lake after him. Also, the Dakota Community Centre where he first played organized hockey was renamed the Jonathan Toews Community Centre.
