Christine Walkden is a famous presenter and gardener, known for anchoring the gardening programmes, The One Show and Christine’s Garden, on the BBC.

Born on April 7, 1955, in Rishton, United Kingdom, Walkden attended Myerscough College, before proceeding to the Lancashire College of Agriculture.

Upon graduation, she gained experience working in the horticultural industry, and even the Royal Botanic Gardens.

Aside being a freelance horticulturist, Walkden taught horticulture across both at the local and international level.

As a media personality, she hosted BBC’s Gardeners’ World, the Great British Garden Revival, Glorious Gardens from Above and appeared as a guest on Shooting Stars.

Walkden is a winner of the Garden Writers’ Guild Radio Broadcasting Award.

Her first book on gardening, The Houseplant Almanac, was published in 1993. And since then she has written quite a number such as A Year in Christine’s Garden – The Secret Diary of a Garden Lover, and No-Nonsense Vegetable Gardening.

Walkden also wrote columns and made contributions to magazines such as the Amateur Gardening magazine, Choice magazine, Jersey Choice Plants and Quality Garden Tools.
