Rik Mayall Obituary

Rik Mayall was an English actor, stand-up comedian and writer. He formed a close partnership with Ade Edmondson while they were students at Manchester University and was a pioneer of alternative comedy in 1980.

Mayall starred in many comedy series throughout his career including The Young Ones, The Comic Strip Presents, Blackadder, and many others.

Mayall’s final TV appearance was in the first episode of the second series of Crackanory; which was broadcast posthumously on September 24, 2014, on Dave.

He died at the age of 56. His funeral took place on June 19, 2014, at St George’s church in Dittisham, Devon. Following his wishes, Mayall was buried on his family estate at Pasture Farm, near Totnes in Devon.
