Baroness Blood was the president of the Northern Ireland Labour Party. Blood was a founding member of the Northern Ireland Women’s Coalition (NIWC).
In the 1995 Birthday Honours, she was named a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE).
Baroness Blood, died on October 21, 2022, at the age of 84. She has received tributes, with one MP describing her as one of “Belfast’s true characters.”
The Integrated Education Fund (IEF) said Baroness Blood was their “great friend and champion”.

“May yearned to see Northern Ireland at peace with itself. It was that desire for peace that drove her to do exceptional things for so many people. We love you May.”
