Billy Bragg was born in 1957, to his parents, Marie Victoria D’Urso and Dennis Fredrick Austin Bragg.

Bragg’s father, Dennis worked as an assistant sales manager to a Barking cap maker and milliner.
He passed away in 1976, after a long battle with lung cancer.

Bragg’s mother, Marie hails from Italy. She passed away in 2011.
Who Is Billy Bragg?
Bragg, whose real name is Stephen William Bragg, had his high school education at Northbury Junior School and Park Modern Secondary School.
He had failed woefully at high school level and as a result, he experienced difficulty in gaining admission into higher institution.
On the other hand, Bragg always had a knack for poetry and music and along the line, he learnt how to play the guitar.

Bragg created the punk rock/pub rock band Riff Raff with Wiggy, in 1977.
The band was known for recording a number of singles but Bragg took a break from music and ventured into the military in 1981.
He later returned to music, dishing out various genres ranging from folk music, punk rock and protest songs.
Bragg is recognised for his activism and hence, the reason most of his lyrics are centred around political change.
Between 2018 and 2019, Bragg organized music tours across Ireland, New Zealand, United States, United Kingdom, Canada and Australia.
