Gaile L. Lundgren was a homemaker and the wife of Benjamin Civiletti an American lawyer who served as the United States Attorney General from 1979 to 1981 during the Carter administration.

The couple got married in 1958. Together, they had three children: Benjamin H., Andrew S. and Lynne T. Civiletti.
Benjamin Civiletti was previously the Deputy Attorney General and Assistant Attorney General for the Criminal Division, making him the first Italian American to lead the Department of Justice.

Benjamin Civiletti was a senior partner at Venable LLP (formerly Venable, Baetjer & Howard) in Baltimore, where he specialised in commercial litigation and internal investigations.
In 2008, Gov. Martin J. O’Malley appointed Mr Civiletti as chairman of the Maryland Commission on Capital Punishment, which voted 13-7 with its chairman voting with the majority to recommend that the state General Assembly abolish capital punishment.
Benjamin Civiletti died Sunday, October 16, 2022 evening from Parkinson’s disease at his Lutherville home. He was 87.
