He was aged 34 and his colleague, Sebastian Robinson, 28, also died in the crash.
In three different helicopters, Wilson, Sebastian, and two additional crews were searching for crocodile eggs and had flown above the King River.
While the other crews resumed their journey, Wilson and Sebastian started collecting eggs. They had descended from the helicopter while still being bound by a rope, but the chopper hit some adjacent trees and fell upward.
Later, the other crew members discovered the wrecked helicopter with the bodies of Wilson and Sebastian a few meters away.
Only Sebastian was able to make a full recovery when the pair were transported to the hospital.
