Jenkins’ system contained no illegal drugs, according to the autopsy report, but her blood alcohol level was 0.112.

Her system contained traces of topiramate, a drug used to treat epilepsy and migraine headaches, even though she had never been prescribed this medication.

Topiramate combined with alcohol can enhance their effects and hasten the onset of hypothermia, which was confirmed by lesions found in Jenkins’ stomach. Brain swelling was also observed, but it was not linked to the cause of death.

Jenkins’ death was ruled accidental by the medical examiner’s report. While the Rosemont police department did not suspect any wrongdoing, they did state that their investigation was still ongoing.

Jenkins’ family and friends criticised the initial police response, prompting a lawsuit against the hotel and others.
